What the article doesnt say
These machines were Engineered, not thrown together or cheaply made, they were hand made, designed to work, built for strength, & engineered to endure

30k estimated hours on this tractor, the clock stopped around 26k as mentioned & was worked for several (approx 8) full years after before it was used as a donor.
No wear on anything only pitting on the air inlet valves from the filter having been broken for several years sucking in dirt & dust. so heavily built & oversised its unheard of for an engine of that era especially to last that long.

max oil pressure under full revs was only 48 psi, if that was a normal engine you’d be wondering whats wrong, for Schluter this was perfectly fine
The reason for this being with the bearing journals completely oversized for the power, or even the cubic capacity of the engine, they did not need the high pressure of oil to keep them lubricated. The fact that engine oils back then were not up to the same standard as oils nowadays, it meant the oil did not deteriorate as fast as it would in other tractors between services, meaning less wear over years and several oil changes. The submersed pump meant that there was instant oil pressure through these bearings of 30psi climbing to 40 within seconds, nearly full pressure. again to reduce wear over time.
